Braco Mustard

Braco mustard is a fantastic cover crop as most of the vineyards here in the wine country have discovered.

Braco mustard as been shown to suppress nematodes in beets and potatoes just to name a few.  It has also been shown to increase yields in grains.

The reasons are many to use braco mustard, but the primary reason is production of high amounts of high protein green manure, suppression of nematodes and other soil borne organisms.  There has even been some research to suggest weed suppression.

Further research has show that Braco mustard releases a chemical very similar to cyanide that acts as a fumigant in the soil to kill nematodes if you can believe that!
