Lettuce like leaves are broad and slightly twisted.

Leaves form around 10-12" heads that are tightly packed with a well blanched, creamy heart. 

Makes an excellent garnish as well. 

***Like all members of the chicory family, endive has a bitter flavor, but the intensity of the bitterness varies depending on the cultivar and how it is handled.  Too much heat cause endive to be over bitter.  In hot regions it is best to plant endive early or late in the season when the days are cooler.
