Fish Meal

One of my absolute favorite fertilizers!  Fish meal is made from fish of course and if you remember that native Americans put a fish under each corn plant you will know why it is so good.  Don't know about you, but I don't have time to run down the ocean or lake for a few fish when I'm planting!

Fish meal is something you can work into the soil before you plant or you can use it as a side dressing.  I prefer the later because it is a bit pricey.  After your seeds have come up and the plants are well on their way I will dig about a tablespoon around each plant.  I also do this when I'm transplanting anything.  I will work a tablespoon each of fish meal, blood meal and bone meal in the base of the hole before I transplants tomatoes for instance. 

Water well!  Why?  Smells tasty to cats, coons and dogs!  So water it in really well and sit back to watch the amazing results.  Who needs terrible chemicals for fertilizer when you have fish meal.  I swear by the stuff for the most amazing corn, broccoli or anything that is a heavy feeder!
