Our Stance on Genetically Engineered (GEs) Plants

  • We go to great lengths to avoid GE crops including very expensive genetic testing where applicable (crops that have GE counterparts).
  • We will not buy or grow any crops within a 10 mile radius of GE crops.  In fact, the majority of crops under threat of GE contamination are grown on our organic farm in the first county in the U.S. to out law Genetically Engineered Organisms (GMOs).
  • We 100% oppose GE crops and their wreckless contamination of other valuable food crops.
  • Did you know that the Organic Program from the USDA says GMOs cannot be certified organic, BUT they do not require genetic testing to make sure those seeds do not contain Genetically Engineered Traits!  So technically you could buy Certified Organic seed that was grown organically, but polluted with GEs and you would never know because testing is not mandated!  And the company could legally say the are certified organic!  Outrageous is it not?
  • "To our knowledge, none of our products have been developed through the mechanical transfer of genetic material between genera, families or kingdoms."  Why do we say it this way?  Because even though we do genetic testing on the crops that our at risk, GE pollen literally travels in the trade winds and falls from the sky.  There currently is not a way we can be 100% sure.

We are passionate about this...

How do we change the world?  One seed at a time!

A seed is an idea.   It’s a living thing.  It is a basic right.

A basic right of humanity for thousands of years has been the ability to feed ourselves.

Corporations should not be able to patent life for profit.

Life is sacred and belongs to all that inhabit this earth.

It is symbiotic, interconnected in ways we do not yet understand.

It is wrong to genetically alter life, patent it and sell it.

Life is not yours to genetically manipulate and sell.

It belongs to all who inhabit this world.

I’m reminded of a famous man who lived long ago and already knew these things even though he was labeled a “savage”.   He said…

“This we know; the earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood which unites one family. All things are connected.

All things share the same breath - the beast, the tree, the man... the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.

Man does not weave this web of life. He is merely a strand of it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.”  Chief Seattle

Chief Seattle knew what we are only now “discovering” with science.  For example:  Did you know that there are over 200 types of bacteria that inhabit the surface of your skin and these same bacteria live in the soil?  In fact they give the soil its “earthy sweet smell”!  So you literally are a part of the land and the land is a part of you!  Ponder that for a while…

I am also happy to have found you, can't wait to get more educacted about the problem with GMOs, was looking for a little corn to plant in a foodplot and was amazed at how hard it was to purchase a simple bag of seed corn.

YES!! That is amazing that your county outlawed GMO's. This needs to happen everywhere, I stumbled here to find some wheatgrass seeds and I am happy to see this section on the site. This means we are on the same page!!

I am so happy to find you! We need to educate more people on this issue and push for legal changes that will stop the greed of big businesses whose only concern is their profit and not the health and well-being of the American people.

GMOs are linked to destroying bee populations in other countries. Let us take a stand for no GMO production in the US and around the world. I personally feel that this kind of manipulation is a direct cause for Alzheimers and Cancer etc.

I share your conviction against GMOs. Keep up the good fight against those (Monsanto et al.) who would destroy us and our planet for profit. Thanks for caring..
