Blue Sage

Salvia farinacea

125 mg packet, ~100 seeds

Native to the plains, prairie and woodland edges of central and west Texas and New Mexico.  The 3-9 inch spikes of deep blue flowers provide nectar for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.  Foliage and flowers have the classic sage fragrance.  Deer resistant, and makes a great garden border.

Salvia requires a cold-moist stratification for germination.  Place seeds between moist paper towels inside a sealable plastic bag, and refrigerate for 7-21 days.  Sow chilled seeds on top of moist potting soil, do not cover, as this species requires light during germination.
