Artichoke garlic Variety

This particular strain comes from the late Mrs. Lucchini and her husband.

They migrated from Northern Italy to Sonoma County, CA long ago, but brought this amazing garlic with them.

We acquired this strain through Yael Bernier, a longtime garlic and vegetable farmer in Sonoma County.  She is responsible for keeping this strain alive and improving it.

The perfect sweet and spicy balance you want in a garlic.

Easy to grow.

10-15 garlic cloves per head.

Easy to braid and hang.  Stores 6-7 months.

Great flavor and perfect for any of those red sauce dishes.

Artichoke Garlic Your garlic will come in a breathable brown paper bag. Open this bag and allow fresh air in upon receipt. DO NOT break up your garlic into cloves until the day you are ready to plant. Keep your seed garlic cool and dry until the morning you are ready to plant. In the mid fall, plant cloves approximately 4-6 apart on 12 rows pointed end up with approximately 1 of soil covering it, then top with 3-4 of mulch (straw, hay, leaves, etc.). Then in spring, remove mulch to let the soil warm up. Gently dig up when 3-4 of the leaves have died back and allow to cure in a shady, well ventilated spot until the outer skins are fully dried.
