Trifolium incarnatum
Crimson Clover

Grows 1-3' tall.  Crimson clover fixes up to 200 pounds of nitrogen per acre, and prefers well-drained, loam soils with good organic matter content for best results.  If your winters -10 degrees or warmer crimson clover is late summer planted and then goes dormant to spring.  Blooms in May.  Perfect choice for underseeding taller crops as it handles the shade well.

One of the most colorful forage plants and is frequently planted for highway beautification projects. Excellent for bees or other pollinators. Crimson clover is a reseeding winter annual with an erect growth habit and a shallow taproot system.  Do not use for frost seeding as it will not handle the cold nearly as well as red clover. Crimson clover will not re-grow after close grazing or mowing once flowering has begun.

The flowers are a brilliant red color, elongated in shape, and often more than two inches long. The leaves are dark green and covered with dense hairs. Crimson clover produces more forage at low temperatures than other clovers.

*** Raw Uncoated seed.

Seeding rate 20 to 30 lbs/acre.
