Phaseolus vulgaris
Ireland Creek Annie Bush Bean (73 days)

Seed package contains 1/2 oz or about 35 seeds

Ireland Creek Annie Dry Bean seems to show up sometime in the 1930s. I'm still trying to get a good catalog date (year introduced) on this reliable producer.  The story goes that this bean is from Ireland Creek Farm in British Columbia.  Thus the name.

Plants get 24" tall and are early for a dry bean.  Good cool weather emergence.  Delicious, great for soups.

Hard to find these days and we have a very limited supply this year.

Planting Tips:

100+ days for dry beans.  Not cold tolerant, beans need warm soil of 65 degrees or better.  Regular harvesting of the young pods will ensure a greater yield if growing for fresh eating.  Grows best in full sun with well watered soil.  Boost yields and germination by adding inoculants.

When seed pods are fully dry, harvest full plants and shake vigorously in a trash can to separate seeds from plants and dried seed pods.

Heirloom seeds are hardy but always take care with your garden seeds to give them the appropriate amount of moisture - not letting the vegetable seeds dry out prematurely or overwatering and possibly having them rot.
