Jericho Lettuce Seeds (26 days baby--56 full size)

Silky smooth neon green romaine leaves reach for the sky in this amazing lettuce with orignins in the desert.

Jericho hails from Israel and is no stranger to the heat.

That means this romaine is extremely bolt resistant remaining sweet, tender and crisp under the early summer sun.

Tolerance to tip burn, dowy mildew and powdery mildew.

As with many romaines Jericho is a cut and come again variety.

This was our best seller at Farmers Market and it stood up to market conditions without wilting.

Planting Tips:

Sow directly into very fertile, loose soil.  Thin down to final spacing once plants are established.  For best results, plant in spring or fall.  Harvest outside leaves for a continual harvest.  For longer harvest, stagger plantings every 2-3 weeks.

Heat Tolerance:  If you are growing lettuce in the heat, plant them where they will get afternoon shade.  Lettuce is a spring and fall crop in really hot areas.

Harvest Tips: For a continual harvest, sow every 2-3 weeks a new crop if cutting full heads, otherwise harvesting outside leaves will encourage a longer harvest from individual plants.

Seeding Rate:

30,000 plants/acre, aproximately 2 oz.

Heirloom seeds are hardy but always take care with your garden seeds to give them the appropriate amount of moisture - not letting the vegetable seeds dry out prematurely or overwatering and possibly having them rot.

First season growing this variety; great germination and it grows well. Although its only May, its been warm here (drought struck Northern California) and other lettuces are already bolting. Not Jericho ! It stands tall, and so far the insects are leaving it alone too. The leaves are mild in flavor with a nice texture and good crunch. After buying a packet, I came back to buy more seed. Love this lettuce, especially for how productive and easy its been.
