Allium cepa
Evergreen White Bunching Nebuka Onions (65-120 days)

Also called Nebuka onions.

Fantastic for green onions.  Evergreen White produces clusters of 5-9 long, tall, crisp, silvery white stalks.

Amazing flavor for a non-bulbing onion that is slow to go to seed.  Good for spring or fall planting.

TIP:  Plant them first in planting trays (redwood box, old cat box, whatever) and then transplant them to the garden when they are about 1/2 the size of a pencil.  In this way you can eliminate weed competition that always happens when you plant such a tiny seed.  It also makes them very easy to use as a border planting.  Many pest do not like onions and may not cross the border.  So not only do you save space, but you create natural barriers.  Note:  When companion planting, do not plant onions next to beans or legumes of any type.

Texas A&M  says...
"They are cold resistant and can be grown during winter. They will not bulb and are harvested as needed, using both the root and the tops."

Recommended by the Following State Universities or Ag Extension Offices as a variety that performs well for their region .  CA, FL, TX

Planting Tips:

Day length sensitive – check for which is best in your area.  Needs a light friable soil to grow successfully.  Start in early spring, scatter seeds in tray ¼”- ½” apart in moist soil and put in warm place.  Transplant out 8-10 weeks later in final spacing.  Thinned onions are great in salads!

Seeding Rate:

500,000 plants/acre, aproximately 6 lb.

Heirloom seeds are hardy but always take care with your garden seeds to give them the appropriate amount of moisture - not letting the vegetable seeds dry out prematurely or overwatering and possibly having them rot.
