Seeding rate is 9 - 20 lbs per acre, with 16 lbs per acre being optimal. In areas of drought seeding rate is 5 - 6 lbs.

In 1937 a plant that appeared in a field of another variety that was infested with milo disease.  This plant however appeared outstanding because of its resistance.  Thus Martin Milo was born.  W.P. Martin in Lubbock, Texas is credited for this selection. 

One of the first double dwarf combine harvested types at 3-4'. 

Seeds reddish-brown. 

Seed heads are threshed easily. 

Stalks are slender and seldom tiller.

Excellent drought tolerance.
