organic blue lake bean seedOrganic Basque Pepper

250 mg packet ~30-45 heirloom pepper seeds.

We found this pepper at a farmer's market in Boise, Idaho, which has a large Basque population, and loved it so much we had to start growing the seed. This is a long, waxy, frying type pepper with a moderately thick wall and sweet flavor.  Great for grilling, roasting or eating fresh.  The fruits may be red or yellow orange, and measure 7-8 inches long and 1.5-2 inches wide.  We have begun to select for orange color in this line, as it is the sweetest.

This productive pepper was a farm favorite this year.  The plants are vigorous and stand 12-18" tall.  We transplanted the seedlings into the field in mid June and harvested the first peppers in early October.

Planting Tips for Organic Heirloom Sweet Peppers:

Start these vegetable seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before your last frost date.  Be sure to keep them in a warm place so that the soil temperature stays above 75°.  Young heirloom pepper plants like it to stay warm and will develop best if kept happy.

Only transplant after the pepper seedlings have shown several sets of their true leaves and only once you are sure the outside soil temperature is consistently above 65°.

Organic Heirloom seeds are hardy but always take care with your garden seeds to give them the appropriate amount of moisture - don't let the vegetable seeds dry out prematurely, and don't overwater and possibly have them rot.
