organic hot pepper seedsOrganic India Jwala Pepper (125 days)

1/4 gram

This long slender pepper is from India.

It is about finger length thus it's other name of finger hot pepper.

Very spicy.

Makes excellent dried pepper flakes or powder.  Our most popular powder at the farmers market.  Dries easily because they are so skinny and the flesh is thin.

Not a pepper for those with cool nights unless you have a greenhouse or hot southern window and plant it in a large pot.  They do extremely well in pots and we have some plants that are still bearing in the greenhouse that are 2 years old!  In fact, they withstood many nights as low as 28 degrees F and had no injury in our greenhouse.  Yes, we were pleasantly surprised.  We planted in March in the greenhouse and harvested around Christmas!  So you have to have some patience, but the flavor is worth the wait.

Those in the hot southern portions of the USA, zones 8+ (and nights with 70 degree plus) should have no problem getting this to produce before your first freeze outside in the garden.

Planting Tips for Organic Heirloom Hot Peppers:

Start these vegetable seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before your last frost date.  Be sure to keep them in a warm place so that the soil temperature stays above 75°.  Young heirloom pepper plants like it to stay warm and will develop best if kept happy.

Only transplant after the organic heirloom pepper seedlings have shown several sets of their true leaves and only once you are sure the outside soil temperature is consistently above 65°.

Organic Heirloom seeds are hardy but always take care with your garden seeds to give them the appropriate amount of moisture - don't let the vegetable seeds dry out prematurely, and don't overwater and possibly have them rot.
