1 Ounce package 90-125 seeds

Tom Thumb was introduced to the U.S. in 1854 by the Landreth Seed Company.

It nearly went extinct but was rescued by Thelma Sanders of Missouri who had been growing it since 1920.

Tom Thumb is a shelling pea that is a true miniature pea that produces 12" tall vines and 5 to 6 peas per pod.

This makes it perfect for those with limited space.  Grows well in pots.

No need for staking or poles.

This pea can take temperatures down to 20 degree F.

Was used extensively in cold frames over the winter in the South.

Planting Tips for Heirloom Organic Peas:

Heirloom organic peas like it cool, so you can plant them 3-4 weeks before your last frost date but besore the soil is well drained and raised in beds or rows.  Germination in these heirloom peas is as low as 45 degrees and it is often said that a cooler pea will be sweater.  Using soil inoculation will increase yields by boosting the available nitrogen in the soil.

For the highest yeildes of these delicous organic garden peas, make sure they have thin wire or string to climb.  This will give them more room to grow, thus collecting more sunshine and creating better yields.  Remember to continually pick the ripe pods as to encourage a longer harvest.

Organic Heirloom seeds are hardy but always take care with your garden seeds to give them the appropriate amount of moisture - not letting the vegetable seeds dry out prematurely or overwatering and possibly having them rot.
