Tips for Growing Great Turnips

Turnips are easy and quick to grow, and can be eaten raw or cooked.  You can eat the leaves and the roots too.

The key to any good root crop like turnips is loose, rich and friable soil.  Turnip roots cannot develop properly in hard packed or rocky soil.

Even, constant moisture throughout heirloom turnips growth period is essential to produce juicy roots and not woody ones.

Plant heirloom turnips seeds every 2 weeks for continuous harvest. With turnips, quality and flavor are best if harvested when weather is cool.

Turnips are an excellent choice for root cellar storage.  Properly stored they can last from 4-5 months.
