White Dutch Clover

Raw clover seed. Not coated or inoculated with anything.

aka Ladino Clover

White Dutch Clover designates a strain of white clover which is perennial. Used in lawns, as a ground cover, cover crop, for erosion control, and in pasture mixtures. Usually matures between 4 to 8 inches.

We use it to fix nitrogen in our gardens and to give the honey bees some much needed food. Many homeowners include White Dutch clover in their lawn seed mixture because clover sprouts fast and grows so dependably that it's a valuable aid in getting a new lawn started. Nodules on the roots fix nitrogen from the air. Actually, up to 1/3 the nitrogen your lawn needs can be obtained from White Dutch Clover! Grows vigorously even in poor clay subsoil around new home construction. If you want all the benefits of a cover crop but don't want to till early or mow, clover is your best bet.

Seeding rate for clover is 1/4 lb for a 1000 sq. ft or 6 to 8 lbs per acre.

Fastest seeds ever!

I bought a small package of white clover to plant in a bare spot, and after I casually sprinkled them, I was amazed that they came up in 2 days, and apparently every single seed sprouted! It was so dense it looked like a CHIA pet! I had to dig up some and move them. I has so happy with it that I ordered a bigger bag to use in the fall when we'll be having some major lawn repairs (big ruts left from uprooted trees in a nor'easter). I love clover in the lawn because A. It never needs mowing and B. It never turns brown and C. The bees love it. and D. It improves the soil.

Various areas planted

I planted in my back yard to cover areas dogs scratch in, also planted a patch in my front lawn that I do not mow, and
the rabbits visit it every nite, I gave the remainder to a friend whom has a cottage up north to promote bees and butterflies.

Trouble with spindly miniature clover

Don't know exactly what happened: mixed white Dutch clover seed, in potting soil allowed to begin germination , spread uniformly, it looked like nearly all germinated came up within about a week or so. Grass started growing ( rainy season here in Central Florida. ) what little clover I can find has barely put on third leaf spindly blotchy leaves . Grass is doing fine but I wanted clover for bees nitrogen etc.
