Lancaster Sure Crop Corn
Lancaster Sure Crop Corn Seed (115 days)
Developed by Issac Hershey (and family). Hershey was a Mennonite elder in Lancaster, Pennsylvania who set about creating the perfect corn for his needs.
By 1910 he stopped mixing superior corns together and began selecting for early maturity, disease resistance, yield, large ears and stability.
Thus Lancaster Sure Crop was born.
So amazing is Lancaster that many of todays corn-belt hybrids can trace at least one parent back to this corn.
Towering 10 -12' tall plants with long 10 - 12" narrow ears.
High ear placement.
Primarily grown as a silo corn.
Stalks grow extremely tall and have an excellent root system to prevent lodging.
There are many uses for dent corns like: Hominy, masa harina (what tamales or chips are made out of), Posole, Corn Bread, Corn Muffins, Hush Puppies, Corn Fritters, Grits, and Corn Soup just to name a few!
