Grown for it's tender aromatic leaves, Marjoram flowers can also be steam distilled to produce an essential oil that has a yellow color that darkens to brown as it ages.
A relative of Oregano, this lovely herb has a delicate sweet flavor, balsam-like aroma and mild spicy flavor. This oval shaped leaves, can be dried, or used fresh for many culinary possibilities. Commonly used in anything from meat dishes, to soups, sauces and dressing, to salads.
A native of Asia minor(Turkey), and classically grown throughout the mediterranean, it does well in most regions.
Plant seeds in thin strips(3-4 per inch), with a light sprinkling of soil over the top, after danger of frost has passed (may also be planted indoors 8-10 weeks before last frost). With a decent seedling mix, plants will not need to be fertilized for the first 2-4 weeks, as they will absorb all they need from the soil.
