Red Kuri Squash: germination rate 50%
I planted one plant and it has all but taken over my small garden space. It grows like a vine with the vines snaking out and growing every which way even up! It is not like a traditional zucchini plant which is like a bush. It put on fruit slow but now is producing more fruit on the vines. They come in yellow and then turn a red-pumpkin color. Very very large leaves. Pleased but you have to have room!
I shared the squash seed with a friend. We both had similar experiences. The seed was slow to germinate compared to other squash seeds (butternut and summer squash). We both got less than 50% germination. He started his in flats, I started some of mine indoors and some in the ground). It is early July, my plants look good and are starting to flower.
Years ago I ordered this seed from you and grew the squash. It turned out great, for Central Texas in the heat of the summer with limited rainfall. I made soup out of the squash and served it for friends over for dinner. It was a hit. It is much too early to plant the seed this time, I am thinking about changing and starting the seed in late June or July and harvesting in the fall since our first freeze is later, but we do get some more rain in the fall to finish out the produce. Hopefully, it all works out. This product is great, now it is up to me in Central Texas with the heat and low rain!
