Intensely bright fuchsia-red plants are just much brighter than most Amaranths we think. Red Garnet can be used as a cooked green, allowed to flower for a dramatic display in the garden or grow it for grain! Some folks share the grain with the birds attracting beautiful buntings, goldfinches and other flying jewels. Red Garnet Amaranth will make a stunning addition to your edible flower or vegetable garden. We've had this beautiful plant grow to 10-12 feet! You'll get dozens of seed heads that will make beautiful arrangements or produce lots of seed!
So far so good. Once they were tall enough to separate and replant in the flower beds, they have grown to 8-9". Much rain and heat in our state which may slow the growing process, but looking forward to tall plants.
I love the color!! So far no bugs going after it. I wasn’t sure if they would grow in Hawaii or if the bugs would just eat it up but there doing great!
I took these seeds to plant in Sri Lanka as a nutritious, fast growing leafy food. I am very pleased with the results and look forward to ordering more seed and growing lots more - and giving to friends and neighbors.
I bought some of a few years back, and was not expecting them to get so Y'all! They grew at least 10 feet tall, and the seed heads grew so heavy, that doubled over, which made harvesting the seed much easier! Then mice got into the bin, so I never got to eat it.
Feedback: it would be really helpful if you would put the average mature height and width of the plants on each page. It would really help with planning.

Chowford Barley (184 days) Chowford is a 2-rowed, awned spring forage barley, that was selected for lodging resistance, forage yield, and has excellent tillering making it well adapted as a forage barley using irrigated production methods in the southwestern states and central valley of California. It is moderately resistant to Scald. This variety can get quite tall, up to 48" which is why it's an excellent fodder, but also would be a good green manure or cover cropping variety as well.
