Every seed came up, they're about 3' tall with a sturdy stem. Waiting until mid March to put out in the southern (Ga) garden. Will be licking my lips watching them flower and fruit. I like these as an addition to a traditional red tomato salad.
I had 40 mph winds my greenhouse fell over and was so surprised the seeds survived two days in the cold under soil and are still growing. The roots were in tact so i transplanted them, they are doing just fine. 10 stars
The Crane Family here in Sonoma county are famous for their melons. This is a yellow/orange fleshed melon that has been grown in the family now for about 4 generations. It can reach weights of 25 lbs and is almost perfectly round in shape. The flavor is out of this world. It is so sweet, I ate an entire melon when we were cleaning the seeds. It was so juicy, sweet and tender. Not at all grainy like some watermelons can be.
We are the only seed company to carry this melon! You will not find it anywhere else and the family grows a limited supply each year. That means we don't have a great deal of seed for this amazing melon. You want it, don't wait to get it.
California Grown Heirloom Seed
If you have cool nights this is a watermelon to try. We barely have 3 full months of warm summer nights, so producing any melon is a real art form. This strain of watermelon has been perfected to grow in cool nights for over 4 generations.
Out of Stock. The Crane family didn't have any to share this year. No seed for 2013. We will start to grow our own this summer.
