Thought to be a selection of "Poole" wheat. The origin of Poole is unknown, but had been grown since 1884.

35-40 bushels an acre in 1901 on land that was only manured.
Stands the winters well.

Average plant height is 4'. As with many old heirloom wheats that are tall, lodging can occur in high wind areas or heavy rain storms.
Seed Head length is 3"-5".
Average of 8 seed heads per plant.
Threshes extremely easy.
Susceptible to stripe rust and Russian Aphids.
Was historically grown in Arkansas, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
