Zea mays
1/2 OZ ~80 heirloom sweet corn seeds
Developed in 1902 by Luther Hill of Andover Township, Sussex County, NJ.
Luther Hill produces 5' stalks. Each main stalk yields two 5-6" ears. Our strain also produces 2-5 stools (side shoots), each of which can bear an additional 2 ears.
Very sweet. Remember Luther Hill is like any other old time sweet corn, it is at its peak for about 2-3 weeks. No more! Learn to pick it when it's at the peak.
Stand-ability (standing up in the wind) is moderate. It needs some protection from heavy winds. We are working to breed a stronger strain, but this will take a number of years.
Very cool tolerant corn. We grew it 14 miles off the California coast. Night time temps were 55 degrees with coastal fog. Amazing corn. Grown as far north as Canada.
Very rare and hard to find sweet corn.
