Lutz Green Leaf Beet Seeds (70 days)
Lutz Green Leaf is known for its long standing storage capabilities. Also known by many as "winterkeeper" beets.
Lutz has roots that are about 6" in diameter and can get much bigger without that woody taste. Make sure you thin out to 4-6"
They are reddish purple in color and have a sweet tender flavor. However, what Lutz Green Leaf is really known for is their giant, glossy green tops that are mouth watering.
For winter storage, plant beet seeds the second week in July. Cover with mulch before the first freeze to protect from freezing. Harvest as needed.
Strong seeds. Delicious greens and sweet beets! Love these!!!
These are fine tasting but very hard to grow here in Tennessee. Especially at 1600 ft. up on the plateau. I would love any ideas to help.
I have to change my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars! Southern Exposures greens have turned out to be larger and more resistant to disease than the other variety of Lutz that I got from a southern seed company. Congratulations on a great plant. The beets are so much easier to grow than chard or spinach and much, much easier to harvest! Mild like spinach!
I didn't expect much but they in fact germinated and are almost indistinguishable from the big fat seeds I got from another seed company.
