Lycopersicon esculentum
The H.J. HEINZ Company began a tomato breeding program in 1936 at Bowling Green, Ohio.
This old variety is one that is no longer used by the Heinz company for production.
1630 is similar to 1350(VF) but, is earlier, has better cracking resistance, fruit is generally, smaller, resistant to fusarium and verticillium wilt, & stemphylium.
The plant has very dense foliage and would be classified as determinant or semi-deter.
The fruit is born in clusters of 3-4 and are 4-7 oz in size.
The skin is thick and the flesh meaty
Very prolific and tends to all ripen at the same time late in the season.
EXCELLENT tomato taste. Very acidic and exactly what you would want in a canning tomato for ketchup, sauce or soup.
