Paris Island was developed by the USDA and Clemson in the early 1950s. Named for Paris Island off the coast of South Carolina.
Some of the traits that were bred into Paris Island are resistance to tipburn, slow to bolt and tolerance to mosaic virus.
Paris Island forms upright 10-12" heads that are uniform, medium green, slightly savoyed with a creamy white heart.
