Tatume is a summer squash popular in Mexico and Texas, round/oval med-dark green to yellow fruits with faint stripes.
Squash are best at 5-7" in diameter.
Firm, fine flavor with very vigorous spreading vines.
Give tatume plenty of room to spread and you won't be disappointed.
Tatume squash likes heat and it not recommend for those with cold night time temps.
Excellent resistance to squash vine borer.
Here are some descriptions from other folks...
"Slightly oblong, light green-grey skin, meaty, nutty flesh. Can be allowed to mature on the vine for a winter squash."
"They are firmer when cooked, and sweeter. They are great diced, sauteed with onion, then scrambled in eggs. A high fiber, low calorie very filling breakfast, with a side of refried beans and a dollop of salsa."
Rare heirloom. Tatume is getting harder and harder to find these days.

Tatume Squash

Just received our order to add Tatume to our public library seed library this year; we've been looking for a variety that is less attractive to vine borers for our seed library users who are growing organically, and we hope that Tatume helps fill that need.
